Since 2008, the CPI advisory boards have played a key role in setting the direction and agenda for CPI’s activities. Industry thought leaders from leading commercial cards and payments organizations meet several times a year to provide input and discuss key issues facing the industry, and more specifically, how it relates to the Middle Market. The CPI advisory boards have been instrumental in setting the direction of the organization and providing guidance to the industry. Members include thought leaders from all parts of the commercial payments value chain.



Kimberly Carroll
VP & General Manager, American Express Global Corporate Payments

Kim Carroll is Vice President/General Manager with American Express Global Commercial Payments, leading the Midwest market. Kim’s career with American Express spans over two decades. In her current role, Kim leads a team of approximately 60 business development professionals that are responsible for growing and expanding relationships with small to mid-sized organizations. Kim has won several awards and accolades through her tenure and most recently was awarded the Hall of Fame Award for her decades of top results as well as service to the customer and her organization. Throughout her career, Kim has had the opportunity to build relationships with executives across a broad range of industries. Her diverse exposure has provided Kim with unique insights into the payment needs of her customers. Kim also serves as a board member for the National Diversity Council’s Illinois chapter. As the industry leader in the Commercial Card space, and one of the most respected service brands, American Express’ customers range from the Fortune 50 to small private enterprises. The suite of payment solutions offers a wide range of benefits that are important to any business. Ray Champ
SVP, Head of Commercial Card Product, Citizens Commercial Banking

Ray joined Citizens Financial group in December 2017 and leads the Commercial Card product strategy encompassing core product management, development, and payables. Ray leads a number of initiatives to drive competitive differentiation for Citizens and more importantly, value for its Commercial Banking customers. Ray’s team is also responsible for strategic product roadmaps across traditional card, virtual card, spend reporting tools, and supplier enablement.

Previously, Ray served as the lead of Commercial Products at Mastercard in North America managing Product development and management initiatives for the small business, mid-market, large market and public-sector segments. Ray was charged with developing a differentiated product strategy across a host of Commercial Card assets. In addition to Product, Ray also led Mastercard’s relationships with a number of issuers including JPMorgan, WEX, HSBC, and Citizens spanning credit, debit, prepaid, cobrand, and commercial card portfolios. Ray lives in Connecticut with his wife and 2 daughters.



Stephen Cohen
Boost Payment Solutions

10 years in the electronic payment industry. Prior to Boost, held senior positions at Brillian Technologies, Fastcorp, and was a consultant at Bain & Co.



Chris Holmes
SVP, KAE Consulting

Chris is a Senior Vice President at KAE, the strategic marketing consultancy. Chris joined KAE in 2007 and during this time, he has managed multiple high profile global projects across the payments space (focusing on various issuing and acquiring topics across both the commercial and consumer payments sectors), banking, FinTech, AltFi and telco industries. His specialist skills are geared to NPD, market sizing and opportunity assessments, benchmarking, and best practice identification. He also heads KAE’s FinTech practice as well as KAE’s wider marketing and business development activity. Chris holds a BSc (Hons) Business Studies degree from the Cass Business School and is also a qualified professional marketer (DipM) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Prior to joining KAE, Chris provided market research and consultancy support on Responsible Business Practice and international development opportunities for the UK Food and Drink industry.



Andrew Jamison
CEO and Co-Founder, Extend

Andrew is the CEO and Co-Founder of Extend, a platform that enables banks, FinTechs and their customers with digital card distribution capabilities. Prior to starting Extend, Andrew was the head of B2B Corporate Payments Products at American Express with a mandate to drive digital payment innovation and adoption. Over the course of six years, he doubled the size of B2B payment volumes by launching and scaling new capabilities and platforms. Prior to American Express, Andrew spent eight years managing global SAP deployments for large multinational corporations.



Frank Martien
Partner & Head of Commercial Payments Practice, First Annapolis (now part of Accenture)

Frank Martien leads First Annapolis’ Commercial Payments practice area and specializes in bank issuance of consumer credit cards, small business credit cards, and commercial cards (eg. corporate, purchasing, virtual accounts, fleet). His engagement experience includes a wide spectrum of strategy, market sizing, growth opportunity assessment, primary and secondary market research, financial analysis, RFP/vendor selection, valuation, expert appraisal, and M&A-related assignments. Frank’s clients include banks, payment networks, end-user organizations, and retailers. Through client assignments, speeches at major industry events, published articles and quotes, and as an Advisory Board Member of Commercial Payments International, Frank is a recognized industry expert.



Jared Nicholson
SVP, Bankcard Commercial Card Manager, Zions Bank

Jared is the Division Manager over Commercial Card Products and Services for Zions Bancorporation. His team includes sales, account management, implementations, sales support, operations, product development and reporting functions, in addition to shared risk/credit oversight. He has 18 years of experience in the Commercial and Business Card industries. Prior to joining the Zions in 2010 to build their Commercial Card program, he served GE Capital Financials Commercial and Business Card divisions for 10 years in a variety of roles, including Account Management, In-house Card Program Administration, and Servicing. He is a father of two, movie buff who has seen every Best Picture Oscar winner, and a self-described “Lego maniac”.



Kalpana Prashar
Director, Payment Innovation, Bank of the West

Kalpana is currently in the Commercial Card Division at Bank of the West, BNP Paribas where she drives innovative payment solutions. She has been with Bank of the West for 12 years and managed product, operations and vendor management teams in the Consumer Credit & Debit Card Division. Prior to joining Bank of the West, she was an independent consultant supporting brand analysis and card conversion of Bank acquisitions as well as development of P&L. She started her career at Wells Fargo Bank where she managed key projects for the ATM and Debit Card products. She also has held account management roles at MasterCard supporting issuing banks. She graduated from the University of California, Davis and attended the Pacific Coast Banking School. She currently resides in San Francisco, California.

Mark Savoye
VP, Commercial Product Specialist, Mastercard

Mark N. Savoye is Vice President, New Payment Business, where he is focused on business development for Commercial Products including the B2B Hub, and New Payment Flows. Before joining MasterCard, Mark served as the Director of Business Planning at American Express; where he was responsible for leading strategy, business development, partnerships, business planning and competitive intelligence for the commercial card business and global network services business.  Mark holds a Bachelor of Science from New York University Stern School of Business in Marketing and International Business. Mark serves on the Board of Directors for Madison Strategies and Solving Kids’ Cancer.



Athena Varmazis
SVP, Cards, RBC Payments & Cards

Athena is the Senior Vice President, Cards for RBC. She is responsible for the overall strategy for RBC’s retail, small business, commercial and prepaid cards, including acquisition, digital strategy, co-brand credit cards, value added services, and sales and client engagement strategies.

Prior to her current role, Athena was the Vice President, Global Loyalty Programs & Rewards for RBC, and was responsible for the strategic direction of the RBC Rewards program, including creating roadmaps for future digital and platform infrastructure, and partnering with other areas of Digital, Payments & Cards to continue to drive market leadership.

Athena joined RBC in March 2015 from AMEX Bank of Canada, where she was Vice President and General Manager of Small Business Services. In that role, she was responsible for strategy and experience, business and product development, acquisition and sales and delivery. Prior to that, Athena held a number of senior leadership roles within different divisions of American Express, including acquisitions, strategy, online and mobile, customer engagement and strategic partnerships.

Athena is dedicated to giving back to the community, and has acted as the Canadian Banking co-chair for the annual RBC Employee Giving and United Way Campaigns for several years. In 2018, Athena was appointed to serve on the board of directors of RBC Ampli Inc. and the Pine River Institute.



Arthur Weiner
Head of Commercial Card, MD, Fifth Third

Arthur Weiner is an accomplished payments industry leader with 30+ years of successfully bringing products to market for leading global companies, including Mastercard, Citibank, US Bank and now Fifth Third Bank. Prior to joining Fifth Third Bank, Arthur spent two years at US Bank as Global Head of Relationship Management for Payables & Travel solutions. He led a sales team in revenue growth of over 1,000 large corporate, middle market clients in the United States, Canada and Europe. Arthur worked at Mastercard for 17 years as a senior manager focused on new product launches for consumer, small business and commercial card products. After receiving his MBA from Adelphi University in New York, he started his professional career with Citibank Diners Club implementing joint marketing programs with major airlines, hotels and car rental companies designed to acquire new cardholders. Arthur lives in Chicago and is a triathlete.



Tony Yazzolino
SVP, Commercial Card Director, Umpqua Bank

Tony came to Umpqua Bank through the Sterling Bank merger in 2014 and has been with the combined companies for 12 years leading and growing the bank’s card based payments business. He currently oversees the bank’s credit card programs and includes a combination of in house and agent programs to support the bank’s commercial and consumer banking units. Tony began his career in 1992 with West One Bank and has held various roles at US Bank, Wells Fargo, and local community banks and has over 20 years of experience in payments, cards, and acquiring business lines. Tony graduated from University of Oregon, Northwest Intermediate Banking School, and the ABA School of Bankcard Management. Tony lives in Portland Oregon with his wife and 3 daughters.
