Airwallex raise $160 million in Series D round

Melbourn based Cross-border payments firm Airwallex has raised $160 million in Series D round with new investors which includes ANZi Ventures – the corporate venture arm of ANZ – and Salesforce Ventures, DST Global, Tencent, Sequoia Capital China, Hillhouse Capital and Horizons Ventures. After this round, the total equity raises to $360 million.

In March 2019, the company had raised $100 million which helped them expand globally with setting up new offices in Tokyo, Bangalore and Dubai.

The company says the new funds will be utilized to accelerate global growth and presence in Europe, the US and other new markets. Along with the global expansion, the company has partnered with Visa to launch Airwallex Borderless Cards and also partnered with Xero to help SMEs in cross border payments.
