Airwallex raises $100 million from investors

In the past three months, investors around the world have poured over $1.85 billion into commercial payment companies of which the highest being in Stripe with $600 million funding.

This week, Australia based cross-border payments firm Airwallex has raised $100 million in its series D round of funding. With this latest funding, the company has concluded its series D round with total funding of $300 million and with total $500 million equity raised in overall rounds. The latest round was led by Greenoaks, Deliveroo, Discord, Stripe, Brex and Checkout.com. Australia-based Grok Ventures, Skip Capital and ANZi Ventures have also participated in the round.

With this latest round, the valuation of the company has come to $2.6 billion. According to the press release, the company has tripled its valuation in two years. With the latest infusion of capital, the company would use this towards ‘further accelerate Airwallex’s global expansion, explore new partnerships and continue with product and engineering innovation’.

This month, Stripe raised $600 million while Finix and RecargaPay received $100 million and $70 million respectively.

“This year, we are focused on our global expansion. We continue to extend our international footprint, and are bolstering our capabilities through partnerships and new product launches. Strengthening our investor base with the addition of Greenoaks will also help us accelerate that progress’, said Jack Zhang, Co-founder and CEO at Airwallex.
