With a combined population of 27.7 million people, the Benelux countries are enjoying rapidly growing business expenditure, and commercial payments of all forms are well established. As Sarah Williams reports, conditions are ripe for further growth, particularly in the areas of commercial card programs, and, to a lesser extent, P-Card programs.
This report provides an overview of commercial payments in the Benelux region, which includes the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Virtually no companies of any size operating in this area focus their operations only on just one of these countries. This is partially due to geographic and linguistic reasons but is mainly due to the fact that each of these countries on its own is generally considered to be small, and they are very intertwined. The population of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are 16.8 million, 10.4 million and 0.5 million, respectively. As a result, country manager roles typically cover Benelux, rather than any one single country.
