Tom MacDonald is a market intelligence practitioner and business consultant specialising in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other emerging markets, who has led 60+ assignments for many of the world’s most successful financial services and payments companies. Currently, Managing Consultant and Financial & Business Services Practice head at the research and advisory firm Global Growth Markets, Tom leads the company’s work in payments.

Tom was educated at the University of Victoria, Canada, and holds a BA in Economics. His work has been published in leading publications and industry journals including PaymentSource, FintechFinance, Asia Banking & Finance, and the China Daily.

Amer Qavi is Founder & CEO of Swipezoom, a fintech company that develops and markets SaaS-based solutions for the B2C and B2B sectors. Amer’s experience as a problem solving entrepreneur spans 27 years across several industries such as healthcare, hospitality, telecommunications and IT and include notable exits from businesses he founded along the way. Prior to that, he has held numerous positions within the healthcare industry. As a certified clinical specialist, he has trained Ophthalmic, ENT and Neuro surgeons on the use of minimally invasive surgery and laser based procedures; has been involved in setting up master distribution networks for ICU Medical, 3M, Alcon and Johnson & Johnson and helped architect numerous government-backed healthcare initiatives, most notably in the area of laser surgery and infection control. He is a regular speaker at entrepreneurship, e-commerce and technology industry events; is an e-exporting advisor to the UK Department for International Trade (DIT), has held steering positions in entrepreneurship organizations, such as the EO and MBRE, and is a mentor to several technology startups. Amer studied Bioengineering at Texas A&M University.

Ramana Kumar is currently the SVP & Head of Payments for First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) responsible for building lifecycle solutions for corporates encompassing Merchant acquiring, Government solutions, Prepaid solutions, Remittances and UAE’s first fully featured digital wallet -Payit. He is also a Board Member of the Emirates Digital Wallet.

Previously, he was Head of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) and was instrumental in building Middle East regional proposition for the Bank including products and channels across cash, trade and cards.

Ramana has special interests around innovation/ fintech/ financial inclusion /blockchain and the impact on the payments space. He was instrumental in first live implementation of Blockchain with Ripple for cross border payments. He has participated in many forums focusing on future of payments, financial inclusion, digital wallets, KYC and Identity, fintech / blockchain.

He is responsible for product and market development of Visa’s business solutions across T&E and B2B for the region. He joined Visa in 2013 and provides financial institution partners with insight and expertise to develop and deliver best-in-class commercial payment solutions.

Ganes has over 17 years of experience in the payments industry across MENA and Asia Pacific, focused on business development, client management and partnerships. Prior to joining Visa, Ganes worked with Citibank and American Express.
